Forest's Edge Clayworks is located among the tall firs of Capital Forest in Olympia, Washington. It's a quiet environment not far from town, where deer are seen daily, and rabbits snack on flowers in the garden.
In the clay studio, students of all skill levels enhance their skills in wheel-throwing and hand building techniques. The studio offers a supportive and relaxed social environment in which to work. Pottery classes give an opportunity for respite from high-stress jobs and a chance for students to realize their own creative potential. Students often discover they have skills they had previously been unaware of, and this is invariably a delightful experience.

Adult classes are offered every quarter, year-round. The groups are intentionally kept small (maximum seven students), to ensure that everyone gets sufficient attention from the instructor. Class sessions are ten weeks in length, covering a broad range of skills. Some students focus primarily on the potter's wheel, while others prefer to work with hand building.
Beginning students receive detailed instruction on basic skills, while advanced students are given design challenges or more difficult techniques to perfect.
Some students go on to sell their work, while others simply want to enjoy themselves in a creative environment. Although there's a broad range of needs, the instructor attempts to address those individually.
